A band to keep in mind
by Ludmila on Dec.17, 2009, under Music, Uncategorized
Linkin Park is a band from California formed in 1996 by Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, Rob Bourdon, Mr. Hahn. In 1999 they recruited Chester Bennington to make vocals with his extremelly particular voice so they mixed un metal and rap rock genres to make their own style and made the amazing álbum Hybrid Theory. Then the band started to grow and have many fans all over the world. Many albums followed this first one but for me this is the best one. Here you have a video I hope you enjoy

Like many other bands of the 90’s korn started in a garage, young dreamers with much hate, pain and things to scream to the world. With their particular personality their first scream to the world was: Are you ready???, and were we ready? Were they ready to what was coming? I think they were, but we couldn’t imagine how far this garage band would achieve all the things they did.
I’ve been listening to them for too much time now and they still keep surprising me. What makes them different from others? The Evolution like they said in their last Untitled album. They were always capable to evolve even though they have their problems, their addictions, their fights, their feelings; they were always trying to evolve. You can see this evolution during the past of the years since the Korn album in 1994 that was full of anger, claims, and feelings but in some way they could touch your fucking mind with their songs. At that moment nobody knew them, just was a little band but, with a big scream of Jonathan Davis voice left us ready to what was about to come. Life is peachy still young starting with an amazing intro (which is like a signature now) and followed with great songs like ADIDAS, who cares what people think, All day I dream about sex and they were telling it to everybody. And they keep on going, then Follow the leader was seen in all stores and everybody knew it. Then came Issues I think it is their best album, is perfect, I love each song of this fucking album. At that moment everyone knew who Korn was and could distinguish John Davis incredible Chameleonic voice that can go from sweet singing to angry screaming and creepy sounds. They were a Pandora box opened at that moment. Then recorded the Untouchables I don’t have anything to say about this album I felt disappointed with it but I think it is good to have the ability of being impartial when you like something so much. After this unpleasing album they went back to origins with Take a Look in the Mirror, evolving like always but with the classical Korn sounds and critics to short-minded people like their video You All Want a Single. Then came the See you on the other side album which completely blown my mind. At this time I was convinced that they couldn’t surprised me anymore but they did, The Unplugged reflects peace, includes all kind of new instruments, great versions of old songs, Amy lee making an angelical voice in freak on a leash, a fantastic mix of make me bad and a The Cure song completely fusion. And they kept going and going, the Family Values Tour, the See You on the Other Side Tour and then finally came the Untitled their last album until now which shows us that they still can make great music even though they don’t have Brian “Head” Welch who left the band in 2005, and drummer David Silveria who has been on a break from Korn since 2006.
It’s been too many years and as JD says “When we started, most of our fans were 14, 15, and now they’re lawyers and doctors who are bringing their kids. We’re transcending generations. It’s cool.”
Today they are three and Jonathan David Said: yes we’re down three members, but we’re still very creative and still love making music.’ We’re so happy to be doing this 14 years later. This is our eighth studio album, but eleventh release overall. [And eight of those releases sold platinum or platinum-plus]
So what’s coming??? Let’s wait and see.

Flyleaf

I’m So Sick Live Family Values Korn Tour 2006
A band which deserves to be known…
Flyleaf is an alternative rock band from Texas which has a particular way to say things to the world. Although most rock bands complain about their adversities from the past like dysfunctional homes, abuse, anger or broken hearts, this band decided to deal with the old scars and prove themselves that it is better to talk about hope than remove misery. They are trying to show people that it is possible to get out of really bad situations.
This quintet is integrated by Lacey Mosley, Sameer Bhattacharya, Jared Hartmann, Pat Seals and James Culpepper. They have the perfect mix of Lacey’s voice which gives you peace and makes you take out the anger at the same time.
Making this kind of music made Lacey survive from her problems, “I had to lose everything to look up and see that there is a truly constant hope of a happy ending and that’s what we make music for.” she says “If my music helps one person, then it’s worth having been through what I’ve experienced.”
At first they tried to call the band Passerby but that name was already trademarked by other artist so they had to think in other name, here is where they came with Flyleaf which made them feel much more comfortable with the message they were trying to pass. A flyleaf is the blank page at the beginning of a book, the place where the writer put the dedications or the message his trying to pass, that’s what they want to show, a little bit of what is coming.
This is a new alternative metal band but has achieved really important things since their beginning in 2000 like being part of the Korn Family Values Tour 2006
If you still don’t know them here you have a video, hope you enjoy.
